Ingredients
Rava-2cups
Butter milk/Curd-2cups
Salt-as required
For seasoning
Mustard-1/4tablespoon
Urad dhal-1/4tablespoon
Cumin-1/4tablespoon
Peeper-1/4tablespoon
Channa dhal-1tablespoon
Ginger-a small pod
Green chilli-2 or 3
Corriander leaves-few
Curry leaves-few
Cashew nuts-few
Turmeric powder-a pinch
Ghee-2tablespoon
Method
- Finely chop green chilli,ginger,curry leaves,corriander leaves.
- In a kadai,add ghee,mustard,urad dhal,cumin,pepper,channa dhal,cashew nuts.
- When it starts popping(turns brown),add ginger,green chilli,curry leaves,corriander leaves,turmeric powder,fry it for few minutes.
- Add rava,fry for few minutes until the aroma comes.Keep it aside,allow it to cool.
- Add buttermilk or mix curd with water,salt,mix well to get idli batter consistency,keep it aside for 3hours.
- Take idly mould , apply oil or ghee.
- Fill in the batter in each mould.
- Cook it in idly cooker.
Tip
This dish can be served with coconut chutney,tomato chutney,onion chutney.
