Vendakkai Puli kootu(Okra Curry)


Ingredients
Vendakkai(Okra)-1/4kg
Onion-1
Riped Tomato-3
Curry leaves-few
Mustard-1/4tablespoon
Urad dhal-1/4tablespoon
Chilli powder-1 tablespoon
Corriander powder-2 tablespoon
Turmeric powder-1/4tablespoon
Tamarind Juice-1cup
Oil-2 tablespoon
Salt-as required


Method
  • Cut Vendakkai(Okra) into small circular pieces leaving the top and the bottom part of it.
  • In a kadai,add 1/2tablespoon of oil and add the vendakkai(okra) and fry until the stickiness within okra is reduced.
  • In a pan,add oil,mustard,urad dhal.
  • When it starts popping,add onion,curry leaves.
  • When onion gets transparent,add tomato,chilli powder,turmeric powder,corriander powder.
  • Add okra,tamarind juice when tomato becomes mushy.
  • Add 1cup of water and cook until okra is fully done.
Tip
This recepie can be made thick or watery depending on the need,goes well with dhal curry.
