Channa Capsicum Pulav(Sundal Rice)


Ingredients
Basmathi rice-1cup
Channa(Sundal)-1cup
Onion-1
Tomato-1
Capsicum-1
Cinnamon-1stick
Cloves-2
Bay leaf-2
Fennel-1/2tablespoon
Ginger garlic paste-1tablespoon
Green chilli-2
Chilli powder-1/2tablespoon
Turmeric powder-1/2tablespoon
Mint leaves-few
Coconut milk-1/4cup
Corriander leaves-few
Salt-as required
Oil-2tablespoon

Method
  • Soak Basmathi rice in water for half-an-hour.
  • Soak channa(Sundal)overnight and pressure cook until it is 3/4th cooked.
  • In a kadai,add oil,fennel,cinnamon,cloves,bay leaf.
  • When it starts popping,add onion,ginger garlic paste,green chilli.
  • When onion gets transparent add mint,corriander leaves,fry it for another few minutes.
  • Add tomatoes,chilli,turmeric powder,salt.
  • Cook until the raw smell goes off.
  • Add channa(Sundal),capsicum and mix well.
  • Pressure cook the rice with sauted masala with 1/4th cup coconut milk,1 1/4water.
  • Garnish with corriander leaves when rice is cooked.
Tip
This recepie goes well with onion raita,curd,cucumber raita.
