Rasam


Ingredients

Tamarind- lemon size
Big tomato- 1
Garlic- 3 no
Cumin seed- 1 tablespoon
Black pepper - 1/2 tablespoon
Red chilli -2 no
Corriander seed 1/2 tablespoon
Corriander leaves - 1/2 bunch
Curry leaves- few
Mustard seed-1/4tablespoon
Asafoetida- pinch
Salt-as required
Oil-1tablespoon

Method
  • Soak tamarind in hot water for 15 mins. then extract the pulp, keep it aside.
  • Grind cumin, 1 garlic,redchilli, corriander seed,black pepper into powder, then add 3/4th amount of corriander leaves and grind it with the powder.
  •  Add this to tamarind pulp , squeeze the tomato in tamarind water.
  • Add 1 cup water and salt.
  • Allow it to boil switch it off immediately as soon as bubbles arrive in rasam.
  • Take a pan add oil then add mustard, 1 red chilli, 2 crushed garlic, and asafoetida.
  • Add the seasoning , then add fresh curry leaves and remaining corriander leaves.
