Chow- Chow Paruppu Kootu ( chayote squash)


Ingredients
Chow-Chow ( chayote squash)-1 
Moong dhal-1 cup 
Onion-1
Tomato-1 
Green chillies-4 
Chilli powder-1 tablespoon 
Corriander powder-1/2 tablespoon 
Coconut-4 to 5 tablespoon 
Cumin seed-2 tablespoon 
Mustard-1/4tablespoon
Urad dhal-1/4tablespoon
Curry leaves-few
Corriander leaves-few
Salt-as required
Oil-2tablespoon

Method
  • Pressure cook moong dhal and chow-chow (squash) together with little tuemeric powder.
  • Grind coconut and cumin seed together.
  • In a kadai add oil,mustard,urad dhal, cumin seed.
  • When it starts popping,add onion,green chillies,& curry leaves. saute it well.
  • Add tomato and salt saute it.
  • Add chilli and corrinder powder, once the raw smell goes off,add cooked dhal & coconut paste.
  • Allow it to boil for few minutes.
  • Garnish with corrinder leaves.
Tip
This dish goes well with rice or nice side dish for puli kulambu and chappathi.
