Thatta Payir Kulambu(Red chori curry)



Ingredients
Thatta Payir(Red chori)-1/2cup
Oil-2tablespoon
Sambar powder-2tablespoon
Turmeric powder-1/2 tablespoon
Mustard-few
Urad dhal(Ulunda parruppu)-few
Fengureek(Venthayam)-few
Tamarind-Big lemon size   or  Tamarind paste-1tablespoon
Tomato-1
Garlic-2
Curry leaves-few

Method
  • Fry red chori without adding oil for few minutes and boil it in water until it is fully cooked.
  • Chop the onion,tomatoes.
  • In a kadai,pour oil and add mustard,urad dhal,fengureek when it starts popping add garlic,onion,curry leaves.
  • When the onions become transparent add drumstick,tomatoes.
  • Now add pinch of turmeric and sambar powder,red chori.
  • Add the tamarind juice,salt.
  • Allow it to boil for another few minutes in low flame until it becomes thick.
Tip
Along with red chori  vegetables like Brinjal,Drumstick,Potatoes,Raw mango(Mangai), Lady's finger can be added.
To make it more delicious coconut milk or paste can be added.
Instead of vegetable oil,gingelly oil(nalla ennai) can be added.
