Mullangi Sambar(Radish Sambar)


Ingredients
Toor dhal(Thuvaram paruppu)-50gm / 1/2 cup
Oil-2tablespoon
Sambar powder-1tablespoon
Turmeric powder-1/4 tablespoon
Mustard-few
Urad dhal(Ulunda parruppu)-few
Tamarind-small lemon size   or  Tamarind paste-1/2tablespoon
Radish(Mullangi)-1
Tomato-1
Garlic-2
Curry laves-few
Hing(Perunkayam)-a pinch


Method
  • Chop radish into small piecces and fry it in pan without oil.
  • Add 2cups of water to toor dhal and pressure cook or boil it along with garlic,turmeric powder,hing until soft.
  • Chop the onion,tomatoes.
  • In a kadai,pour oil and add mustard,urad dhal when it starts popping add onion,curryleaves.
  • When the onions become transparent add radish,tomatoes.
  • Now add pinch of turmeric and sambar powder.
  • Once the radish is half done add water as required,allow it to boil.
  • When the radish are fully cooked add the boiled toor dhal.
  • Add the tamarind juice,salt.
  • Allow it to boil for another few minutes.Samabar is ready to serve.
