Idiyappam

Ingredients

Riceflour-2cups
Salt-as required

For seasoning
Mustard-1/4tablespoon
Cumin-1/4tablespoon
Urad dhal-1/4tablespoon
Green chilli-1 or 2
Turmeric powder-1/4tablespoon
Hing-a pinch
Curryleaves-few
Lemonjuice-1/4cup



Method
  • Boil water and add it to the riceflour little by little till it becomes a thick batter.
  • Add oil in idiyappam plate.Take a small quantity of dough and put it in the Idiyappam maker. Press on the greased plate circle wise.
  • Steam it for 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile,heat oil in kadai add mustard,cumin,urad dhal.
  • When starts popping add green chilli,curryleaves,turmeric powder,salt.
  • Add lemonjuice,allow it to boil for few minutes.
  • Mix it with idiyappam.
  • Garnish with corriander leaves.
Tip
Channa dhal,Peanuts can be added to make it more delicious.
Sugar,coconut gratings,caradmon powder alone can be added to plain idiyappam to make sweet idiyappam.
