Thattai


Ingredients
Rice flour-4 cups
Urad dhal-1cup
Butter-2 tablespoon
Channa dhal-1/2cup
Seasme seed-1/2cup
Red chilli-20
Curry leaves-few
Salt-as required
Oil-3 cups (for deep frying)

Method
  • Roast urad dhal and powder it.
  • Soak channa dhal in water for half an hour.
  • Soak red chilli in hot water for few seconds and grind it into fine paste.
  • Chop curry leaves into very fine pieces.
  • Mix rice flour,urad dhal powder and all the ingredients by adding water little by little.
  • Make a thick dough.
  • Make small gooseberry sized balls out of it.
  • Dampen fingers and gently flatten the dough on a plastic sheet(I cut the edges of ziploc cover and used it)
  • Prick the thattai with fork to prevent puffing.
  • Deep fry in oil until golden brown.
